Plot Bunnies – Day 4

We hope you enjoyed yesterday’s Plot Bunnies featuring Porcelain Dolls. This is the beginning of a new project that Dave Mornix and I have planned. Each day will post something funny, weird or strange … but with some fact behind it. You can then run with it and use it for  your own inspirational purposes or just read it and do nothing the choice is yours.

Day 4

The human brain, we’re not the only animals with big brains. Human brains weigh an average of 3 pounds (mixture of intelligent and not so intelligent beings), the sperm whale brain is approximately 17 pounds (not so intelligent) compared to dolphin who are considered to be very intelligent animals and they have brains that are approximately 3 pounds.

The movie Lucy exploits the myth that we only use 10% of our brains, this is just a myth. Yes Dave Mornix you are right. Just like the fact that brains are a grey and wrinkly. So much for that smooth brain insult that goes flying around (or wait maybe that is something that we made up in our house)

Some brain facts according to How Stuff Works:

Gray Matter – much of our brains are gray but it’s also white (never fibers that connect the gray matter), black (which is also called substantia nigra “black substance” because of neuromelanin), and red (blood vessels).  Not so gray.

More wrinkles = smarter? The ridges are called gyri and the crevices are called sulci. We don’t start out with wrinky brains, a fetus early in its development has very smooth little brain, yet by the time it reaches 40 weeks old the brain is as wrinkle as yours.

We don’t develop new wrinkles as we learn. The wrinkles that we are born with are the wrinkles we have for life (assume we keep our brain healthy).

Brain scans have shown that no matter what we’re doing, our brains are always active. Some areas are more active at any one time than others, but unless we have brain damage, there is no one part of the brain that is absolutely not functioning.

Other brainy fun facts: (okay we are just having fun here)

Zombies … any zombie movies because we all know zombies love brains. Hide your brains.

Aliens can read your thoughts … you can protect yourself with a tin foil hat.

Food for thought:

Story ideas …

A main protagonist that survives cryogenics but just his/her brain that gets surgically transplanted to a human host body.

Aliens take over your body by mind control or physically a alien creeps into your brain and taps in taking control over you.

An alien or magical spell that has the people around you mesmerized by the alien, everyone thinks they are apart of your family but they are not.

That reminds us of a story by a very talented young man who featured a short story in The Enigmatic Monster Project, called Visitor by Denziel Mornix.

We love intellectual discussions and this edition of Plot Bunnies was brought to you by R. J. Davies Mornix and Dave Mornix of DAM Consulting.
